Will Pandemic Spur a Shift to Digital Banking in Bangladesh?Dhaka Distribution's Prabeer Sarkar on the Nation's Digital Journey
The COVID-19 pandemic has prompted some banks in Bangladesh to consider moving to a completely digital model - but most banks aren't ready, says Prabeer Sarkar, CEO at Dhaka Distributions, a cybersecurity software company.
"Banks here are not completely ready yet for this shift," Sarkar says. "There are two ways of putting digital systems into place. Either you just put the people into the system and let them barge in without any sort of preparations, or you actually prepare the people to get into a digital system."
In this video interview with Information Security Media Group, Sarkar also discusses:
- Why digital banking has not yet picked up in the country;
- How banks in Bangladesh are adopting to the digital journey;
- Misconceptions around ISO27001 and PCI DSS.
Sarkar is founder and CEO at Dhaka Distributions. He has more than 25 years of experience in IT and cybersecurity and is a pioneer in spearheading the cybersecurity movement in Bangladesh.
