The State of Medical Image Archiving: A Survey for Healthcare IT Professionals
The increase in the availability and quality of medical images is enabling healthcare providers to successfully diagnose and resolve more patient problems than ever before. The downside is the demand placed on IT organizations to retain numerous medical images with huge file sizes in a reliable, secure, scalable, and accessible environment. As a result, IT organizations struggle to effectively deliver adequate storage while keeping costs under control.
This survey revealed how healthcare organizations are dealing with these issues. Results offer information about the following:
- Attitudes toward disaster recovery;
- Adoption of cloud storage for medical data;
- Storing and maintaining medical data in compliance with HIPAA/HITECH.
