Inoculating Healthcare Against Cyberattacks
While the industry hasn't seen a high profile breach in some time, healthcare cyber attacks have become an ever present occurrence with more than one breach now being reported every day. And while the focus of cybercriminal activity has largely moved away from ransomware, people (and not just healthcare executives) are being targeted in far greater numbers. Simply put, cybercriminals see clinical and admin staff as the weak link in a health institution's security strategy and this is where they attack.
Using healthcare focused research, this presentation will focus on the current ways the industry is being targeted and the main attack vectors being exploited by cybercriminals. We will explore the concept of Very Attacked Persons (VAP) and how knowing who and why VAPs are being targeted can help health institutions build an impactful security architecture that protects both patients and hospital staff. Lastly, this presentation will focus on practical strategies to help health institutions improve their security posture by better protecting VAPs from cybercriminals.
