Ron Ross of NIST on Protecting Critical InfrastructureSizing Up the Threats and Reviewing the Mitigation Effort
In an increasingly complex world of interconnected information systems and devices, more must be done to protect critical infrastructure, says Ron Ross of the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
In a video interview at Information Security Media Group's recent Breach Prevention Summit in Washington, Ross discusses:
- The looming cybersecurity threats to national infrastructure, including the energy sector;
- Designing systems with security built in;
- NIST's initiatives to protect critical assets.
Ron Ross, a fellow at NIST, specializes in information security, systems security engineering and risk management. He leads NIST's Federal Information Security Management Act Implementation Project, which includes the development of key security standards and guidelines for the federal government and critical information infrastructure.
