"Semiconductors play a part in every device we touch," he says, and the biggest threat is that internet-connected devices don't have the protections that corporate networks have.

Prathap R explains how security of these IoT devices at first focused on the edge network and then on the endpoints. Now, he says, security is "baked in" early in the life cycle.

In this video interview with Information Security Media Group conducted as part of the CyberEdBoard's ongoing Profiles in Leadership series at ISMG's Cybersecurity Summit in Bengaluru, Prathap R also discusses:

  • The importance of software composition analysis tools in securing IoT devices;
  • Securing the software development life cycle;
  • His constant desire to "stay ahead of the bad guys."

Prathap R has led global teams of threat intelligence and vulnerability management and network and infrastructure security operations. His other areas of focus include incident response, the MITRE ATT&CK Framework, risk assessment and management, DevSecOps, application security, security awareness and compliance.
