BEW Global Launches ‘BEW LABS’ With Custom Data Protection Application Development Team

International data protection experts, BEW Global launches 'BEW LABS' with its team of advanced, custom developers at this week's RSA Conference 2013. BEW LABS has the capability to write custom applications to enhance the out-of-the-box functionality of the industry's leading data loss prevention, web security, email security, and security information event management (SIEM) solutions.

Leveraging API platforms provided by the leading data protection solutions, BEW LABS’ team of custom developers can write innovative custom applications that extend the feature set of existing technologies tailored to meet each customer’s unique business requirements. BEW LABS’ custom development team can create applications for data protection technologies that are already installed and running, as well as build custom data protection applications for companies that aren’t using data protection technologies. The custom development team can develop an application to do literally anything based on the customer’s unique business requirements. Examples include:

  • Creating greater integration with digital rights management and encryption technologies, far exceeding current capabilities offered by out-of-the-box data protection solutions
  • Rapidly pulling data feeds from multiple security applications and appliances, and consolidating it in ways that provide meaningful analytics and business intelligence

“For years we’ve been getting requests from clients for functionality that would increase their security and efficiency but isn’t provided in the out-of-the-box data protection solution,” said Chuck Bloomquist, BEW Global CTO. “In response to our customers, we created a team of best-of-breed developers that can write custom code to fill the software’s gaps based on each customer’s needs.”

BEW Global has been developing custom applications for clients on a select basis for the past year. One custom application BEW Global recently developed for one of its Fortune 500 clients involved customized actions in the Symantec DLP system. In short, this custom application is a button in the customer’s Symantec DLP system that automatically moves a sensitive file into an encrypted share and leaves a tombstone where the file was. Other types of solutions BEW Global has developed for clients include advanced reporting and analytics that pull data across multiple platforms.

“No software solution can meet every customer’s needs, but BEW Global doesn’t tell our clients ‘it can’t be done’. We find a way to make it happen,” said Robert Eggebrecht, BEW Global President/CEO. “BEW Global’ s custom development offering will increase the functionality and usability of data protection software immensely for our customers. Our customers no longer have to take the out-of-the-box functionality, or wait for the vendor to update critical features of their software.”
