RSA's Nigel Ng on Emerging Trends in APJ Region
Security As a Competitive Advantage

The desire to gain a competitive edge is beginning to drive security investments among companies in the region, says Nigel Ng, vice president, Asia Pacific and Japan, for RSA.

"We have a customer in Malaysia that wants to be the largest mobile payments provider in Malaysia. And they see security as an edge for them because many other mobile payment providers have been hacked," Ng says in an interview with Information Security Media Group.

As a result, to have an edge over competition, the company is enhancing authentication and using a risk analysis engine that analyzes behaviors to help prevent fraud, he explains.

In the interview, (see audio link below photo), Ng also discusses:

  • The concept of business-driven security and prioritizing risks;
  • The need for a crisis management plan to implement in case of a major breach;
  • The steps to take to avoid security alert fatigue.

Ng has been in the security and technology industry for over 25 years, holding many senior management roles. Since 2012, Nigel has led RSA NetWitness® Suite in Asia Pacific and Japan. Previously, he held several positions at Dell EMC, with focus on the manufacturing industry, the financial sector, as well as establishing the global account program for the region. He also formerly worked at Computer Associates and Westpac Banking Corp.
